We are an amalgamation of different cultures, descendants of all the South African original clans from Ndebele, Pedi, Tsonga, Tswana, Sotho, Swati, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu. Now because of our diversity most of us are very accomodating to visitors. We are roughly 330 000+ in population size meaning there are a lot of opportunities for you to meet a variety of personalities and make different sorts of friends.

Quality of living
The quality of living here in our home town ranges from above average living conditions through to below average living conditions. Ofcourse there are regions of our township that display great socio-economic disparities between us due to our difficult economic conditions and other forces at play that we are helpless against.
In general the quality of living is fairly good with good municipal service delivery, the location we are in is favourable in terms of how close we are to places of leisure. We have good climate, a lot of public transport and shopping centres to satisfy most of your needs. Mamelodi is a safer than popular opinion in the hours that it is supposed to be, obviously walking at night alone or with a handful of friends is generally unsafe. (7.5/10)
Getting around
We know Mamelodi sounds interesting and you want see for yourself what it's like and get around nyana. How do you get around in Mams, well you could get a local or a group of friends and take strolls around our kasi. If it gets late and you dont know where you are you could call private transport on your phone.
When you just want to go any place you could catch a taxi our taxi sign is pointing downards with your index finger which means local travel. While pointing up with your index finger indicates you want to go to town or out of Mamelodi. Our local transport taxis consist of Volkswagen Citi/Velociti Golfs and Toyota Quantum Minibuses. Although at night they are not really available so it would be best to use private transport ater the hours of 20:00 pm on any day of the week.
Safety
Well on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being not safe and 10 being very safe we would say Mamelodi is at the scale of 7.5 which is conditional because safety in the daytime and nighttime are not the same due to obvious reasons. Although you would see hords of people on concert nights out on the streets at very late hours and we are sure most of the would tell you that it is reasonably safe in most parts of Mamelodi, usually when you are travelling in groups. For children it is safe for them to be outside during the day but they should be home before sunset just as a precaution.
